SHORT-TERM EFFECTS:

Dry mouth and throat

Increased heart rate

Bloodshot eyes

Impaired learning, memory, judgment and complex motor skills

Difficulty speaking, listening, thinking, and problem solving

Anxiety or panic attacks

Paranoia in some users

Distorted perception: (sight, sound, time, touch)

LONG-TERM EFFECTS:

Psychological dependence

Asthma

Cancer of the lungs - as with anything smoked

Lowered sperm production & decreased sperm mobility

Immune system damage

There is some evidence of long-term memory damage from “prolonged useâ€

If anything, weed will burn out cannabinoid receptors EVENTUALLY. This might inhibit thought slightly, but this will only happen with very heavy, long term use. Weed isn't "harmless" but it definitely isn't as bad as some people think and isn't as bad as tobacco and alcohol. Marijuana might cause damage in the extreme long-term, but even these effects have been shown to dissipate after awhile if use is discontinued.

Also, lung cancer isn't an effect of marijuana, its n effect of smoking anything. Inhaling smoke is bad. Oral ingestion of marijuana is much better. It's got higher bioavailability and won't cause lung cancer.
