Tips From a Noob

Let me start by stating I haven't had full effects yet. I've been playing around with binaural beats off and on for about a year. I haven't had much luck but I believe they work. I've also had very little success with meditation and I know it's because I have a hard time just letting things happen. This is true for my everyday life as well. So I decided that just because these things don't come easy to me, it doesn't mean they won't work. I'll just have to practice. I had a small break through today. I've been working with counting but I haven't had much luck. I am still very connected to my surroundings when I count. I then remembered reading tips about letting the music and beats be your friend. At first I found the music to be irritating and distracting. It was like I was waiting for it to finish. I decided to turn the music into a music video to accompany the beats. I imagined a figure beating a drum to the beats and the music swirling around the drummer. I then imagined the extra noises (birds, white noise, etc.) as part of the video. The bird noises became a bird that followed me around and lead me deeper and deeper into the beats. I imagined the figure beating the drum as a guide. The guide assured me everything was working and the beats were becoming apart of me. She told me the beats were my heartbeat. I then began to see swirling colors. I usually see this when I'm tired and kind of drifting to sleep. It usually starts as purple and green swirling, then they turn to gray or white. The guide told me the swirling colors meant I was being drawn in deeper and to focus on the colors. I then stopped feeling the mask on my nose. And I stopped feeling my hands. I know that's a lot to imagine when trying not to focus but it's what I need to do to separate from my surroundings. I'm suggesting this for people who have problems meditating and clearing their minds. It's not exactly clearing your mind, but it's at least helps to focus on the beats and shut out everyday thoughts. I still haven't had the full of effects but I do feel disoriented afterwards, so I think I'm getting somewhere. Also I'm using less medium doses like first love. That one was an easy one for me to get into. I read that starting with stronger doses can be ineffective. I would agree. I'll keep you updated.
