if i turn voice cancelation on, to get rid of some of the static, will it still work?

So ive been looking into trying I-doser.. but i was wondering:

Am I supposed to hear a whole lot of static?
Can I turn "voice cancellation" on, so i just hear the humming noise?
What is the strongest dose?
