I'm not sure if it's a hardware issue or a software issue, try using them on something else such as an iPod and see if the same thing happens. If it does, then it's probably hardware based. Is the crackle constant, or is it just when you're actually changing the volume?

Re: What headphones should you use?
I have New headphones. They're Reverbs from Wicked Audio. They sound great with normal audio so I know they'te not defective, but now none of my doses will work. has anyone else had trouble with these headphones? They have enhanced bass if that affects it
Re: What headphones should you use?
To answer many a question I see alike.
My headphones are less than 20 Hz to greater than 20, 000 Hz. Will these suffice?
Absolutely! My headset:

If you look at the technical specifications you will see that these headphones provide 18 Hz - 22, 000 Hz.
This is easily acceptable as they are able to play any frequency a human can hear (and a couple outside that range as well!) These encompass the 20 - 20,000Hz requirement.

I use Sennheiser HD 570. Are they good for this?
Re: What headphones should you use?
Those Sennheisers, and the other Sennheisers I've seen listed throughout this thread should work perfectly fine with binaural beats. I use Sennheiser HD 205 headphones, and they work wonders (and are relatively inexpensive) http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-205 ... B000E1FYRO

Do earphones work with this?
Re: What headphones should you use?
Alot of people are asking questions along the lines of:

Note that what your listening with MUST be a headset or earphones and MUST be stereo, because each ear must hear a separate frequency. Mono headsets will NOT work and speakers will NOT work.
Also, regarding how the frequencies for the effects are lower than 20Hz. What binaural tracks do is play two slightly different sound in both ears (like 500Hz and 510Hz) to trick the ears into thinking that the frequency is something much smaller (like 10Hz for our example earlier). You do NOT need a headset that goes below 20Hz.
tl;dr As long as your headset/earphones are stereo, your in a quiet place, and they can pick up frequencies from 20Hz to 20,000Hz, your good.
Yes, earphones work, but headphones are better since they can block off any outside interference. As long as your headphones/earphones can go from 20Hz to 20,000Hz (the minimum and maximum the human ear can hear) then your ok. Heres a test to see if your headphones can play all those frequencies:Do earphones work?

Re: What headphones should you use?
It's real that we can hear about 15-20000 hz but brain can be stimulated even under 15 hz or more than 20000 hz.That's the reason you need very good headphones !!!
