Its like finding half of a dollar bill to be more accurate. A torn dollar bill is still a dollar bill yes. But as a lower quality dose is lower quality due to a LOSS of information, its like finding half of a dollar bill because it has a LOSS! It will be rendered invalid.

The amount lost is not specified, therefore you couldn't say half.
