OK, I've read through the posts and had my say ... probably too often and certainly too academically. I remain convinced that poetry is worthwhile, and I offer this rationale:
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if meaning
Compounded like money in the bank?
Imagine setting a little meaning aside
Every week, saving it up with interest.
Then, once in a while, you could check
If you mean as much as you’re worth.
I have mercifully chosen something short to share. IMHO poetry is more to be written than read, but it's acceptable to occasionally inflict it on others. I do hope to see more inspired offerings from i-dosers. Fiat lux. Carpe diem. Quid pro quo, and ho, ho, ho! Merry Christmas.
