The Temple of the East

Here's a poem I wrote about the mental state induced by DXM (not the dose, the real thing)

The Temple of the East

Back to the temple—now a shambles
deep within the forest brambles
here is where the madman rambles
-I, the madman, shout for you
Come off from the ancient path
come to the trail I've blazed anew
Purge yourself of newfound wrath
open, let the winds blow through
and kill the beast we've turned into
Burn him there—a sacrifice
and breathe the smoke of souls deceased
find a new and greater vice
here in the Temple of the East

The smoke we breathe is black as sin
-it makes the forest seem to spin
yes, feel the drug, it's kicking in
just wait—you'll see what it can do
And don't resist—hallucinate
see what this world can turn into
Now watch the sun go black as slate
eclipsed by a moon that's blackened too
This is the drug eclipsing you
Take a look into the mirror
your pupils have eclipsed your eyes
Now don't you see it, now it's clearer
mirrors and drugs, both never lie

Now as the drug begins to wane
we shout for joy, yet also pain
The madmen—HA—we're not insane
it's that we've seen a little more
The words you read upon this page
they're somehow different than before
now freed from love and hate and rage
Read them—Breathe them, I implore
Grasp the message that they store
As you leave this place behind
forget the hate that you've released
and please, come back here in your mind
here to the Temple of the East

That's some good stuff! The poem, I mean.
