Discrepancy confusion

I've noticed a big difference between the mp3 tracks I downloaded from the site, and the doses I buy from the store. The mp3s are white noise with droning and some kind of music, while the .drg doses are white noise with droning, but no music. They're much more difficult to listen to without getting bored and letting your mind wander. They're also quite different from the 30 second samples you can play from the main site, in the same way. No background noises that I can hear.

Is this because they're different types of files? Or because my headphones aren't up to scratch?

I don't know about the difference between doses you downloaded and ones you bought from the store, but the 30 second samples sound nothing like the actual doses
