Mindset regarding Doses?

Hi all, I've recently started using this, it's been about 4 days. I read up on the technology somewhat and believe I understand what's going on. I have a few questions however. I do all the reccommended things, lights off eyes closed lay back on bed count backwards from w.e ETC whole 9 yards. I've tried quick happy, exctasy qh marijuana marijuana qh and sleep angel....multiple times each.
I use condition before i start off.
The problem I'm having is that it seems like the only time I felt anything from any of these was the first day i downloaded the program and got the files. It seems like contrary to what everyone says "doses get stronger over time" is what's happening.
What's the most effective mindset to be in when listening? I find that for the ones i've previously recieved effects from, I anticipate the effects and end up not getting anything.
Also, sometimes i find it hard getting my mind to shut up so i can concentrate on thinking about nothing/counting back numbers/breathing/hearing the sounds, it's like the more i try to focus, the more random thoughts keep popping up. how serious of a concentration are we talking? if my brain perceives the beats subconciously, isn't it pointless to pay such close attention conciously?
Overall I am just confused, I understand for some it takes weeks or months to get anything but it wouldn't seem that was the case w. me seeing as I saw effects within the first night of attempts.
