Try to relax...
Try to relax...
Alright so I've heard about iDoser and I've actually done a couple of doses and loved the experiences. My problem is, as of late, I find myself so anxious whenever I try to do a dose. For some reason, I get nervous that I will start tripping, even with doses like Codeine or Orgasm. I can't figure out why I'm so nervous. Anyone have any suggestions on calming myself and letting the dose work?
Re: Try to relax...
You said you've tried it before, maybe you should stick to what you've tried for a little longer before moving on. Or maybe look for doses that sound really similar to what you've tried and liked before.
I used to get really nervous before new doses, and I still get a little nervous before them. It's pretty natural, I think. One thing that helps me is the knowledge that if I get scared or if I don't like the way I'm feeling, I can rip the headphones off. I did a dose that was making me really nervous and I heard voices which freaked me out at the time, so I took off my headphones and after five minutes I felt fine, not nervous or upset. You're not going to forget you can take off your headphones, especially since you're not even trying hallucinogenic things. Knowing that helps calm me down a lot.
Also I would pick a day that you're feeling good, maybe feeling adventurous. Actually the opposite might help too, I've gotten some of the BEST reactions when I was really tired and don't fight the feeling as much because of it.
Remember to turn the lights off, lie down somewhere comfortable, keep still and concentrate on the dose. Another thing you could do is keep something comforting near you, I have an amulet I keep near me sometimes when I'm nervous, or a favorite something someone you loved gave you- anything that calms you down, and then if you get nervous during the dose, you can have it close to your hand, feel it, and hopefully calm down.
That's all the advice I can think of, I'll let you know if I have more.

Re: Try to relax...
Thanks! I've never thought of the amulet thing. And you're right, I've started dosing at night, while the doses I did before were during the day. I was able to actually get through a dose with some good effects (it was Kava and it did relax me a good bit) though the effects didn't last that long, which I think was due to the fact that I did break concentration one or twice.
Anyhow, I will find something comforting. I really enjoy being able to do dose, and walk around my house or just play some video games while nobody else is awake to bother me, so I really want to get to a good point and a positive routine. I also made up a little story to go along with the beats of the dose (I imagined driving along the coastline, in a car going a considerable amount of speed with a pretty girl ) so that helped too. I'd appreciate any other ideas on how to calm myself though. I may also need practice letting go of my senses for the duration of the dose, as that seems to be the freakiest part about the whole experience. I did do a dose through my Klipsch speakers, and got a small effect but headphones are definitely the best way to dose.
