A lack of focus on the beats results in boredom, which results in tiredness, which results in sleep. If you're having trouble not falling asleep, try doing something to stimulate your mind during a dose, like counting backwards from 10,000.

Sometimes caffeine helps me but it can also make my mind TOO active and it races from topic to topic.

one of 2 reasons. they don't get the effects right away and become bored and fall asleep or they think it will help with the effect. unless it is lucid dream sleeping will not help. it will make it worse in my experience.
