Well, experiences in this field can sometimes be shocking. But there is no danger. Try reading more on the subject matter to assure yourself of this. Skydiving is shocking, but its hella fun. (and really there isn't much danger at all in modern skydiving. :p ) I've woken up to sleep paralysis before...

You could email him some links to mature websites that talk about brain waves, and how their not dangerous. Let him do his own reading on the subject, if he cares to.
