Salva Divinorum Not Working: Help

I got some 5x from a friend (apparently, and I know its not enough to trip, or at least go to a different planet.) So I tried a bulletpipe and a coke can pipe with a jet lighter (I also know bongs work best.) Now I knew I wasn't going to trip severely, but I held in the smoke for 20 seconds each hit. I did this with 2-3 grams of it, and I think the only thing I heard was some branches cracking, which was probably something walking around in the forest.
Questions:
1. Will I require a vaporizer and bong to feel any affects
2. Is it possible my friend gave me something that wasn't salvia? Trying to not get me into drugs. It looks dark green foilage, like fine oregano or weed.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

No, thats salvia alright... but X5 is a waste of money, you are pretty much smoking the grass in your yard... 20X and up really are the best things to use.. and thats my opinion..

Well for beginners, I normally would suggest 5x or 10x, but if they don't work then keep moving up the ladder.
