ERROR N.6 PLS HELP

Hi,
the OS on my pc is win2000 in Japanese.

When opening a dose I always got the (IN)famous
error no. 481.

Then I changed the language settings to :
Localisation : ENGLISH
Language: Western Europe & United States
(Japanese is also checked and cannot be de-checked)

Now I don't get the error 481 anymore
but instead I get the error no. 6 :

AN UNTRAPPED ERROR OCCURED ROUGHLY BEFORE GETTING
THE COMPUTER NAME
ERROR : No.6
ERROR DESCRIPTION : OVERFLOW

Please help me to solve my problem (if possible).
It's not nice to buy something and discovering that you cannot use it.
