What is the difference between the mp3's and the PC program?

What is the difference between the mp3's and the PC program?
I have a mac so i can only do the mp3's, however HoG is like 200$ for the computer whereas its like 16 in a pack for mp3s, can someone tell me the big difference?

CD Versions are shorter and have a ambient music background. The PC ones are just the rare sound that means a little bit boring
