I actually really like this. If this is the works of photoshop I recommend taking time to read a few photoshop tutorials on deviantart. The lessons to be found there can significantly improve the overall work. But as for the Idea I love it and I can see you put a lot of effort into this work.

(like SadLittlePony said, if you are into graphic design, I would read up on some tutorials, they are all over the place aside from deviantart, I only say this because I have been doing graphic design since Photoshop 7)

If photoshop is too daunting, try paint dot net (load a library or 20 of special effects). My personal favorite is mtpaint, a linux standard app that makes transparent backgrounds and layers-on-the-fly very easy. It runs fine on windows too.
