That is something I don't know. I don't have the MP3 files / recreational CD, so I don't know exactly what those doses are like. I've heard that they have music and/or ambient sounds, so perhaps the thinking is that these sounds can help you relax into a deeper state and as such will amplify the effects of the dose. Other than that, the only reason I could see for a time difference would be if they compressed the doses on the recreational CD for convenience while out and about, so perhaps you don't get the same reactions with the CD that you would with the normal doses. Again, though, this is all simply speculation on my part.

1st of all , its a support forum , so lets see if someone answers here....
as for the CD vs. program : i got them both , and the ambient sounds are not so loud... its not a big difference.... the main difference is the LENGTH... and if its supposed to be a PROGRAM , how can they compress it half length....

The CDs and MP3s are compressed programs. Meaning, the same binaural tones that we have researched for our standard .drg dose files have been cut down so we are able to fit 4 programs on 1 cd. In our testing, the short program will work for a majority of users, and our research shows that people prefer 4 shorter doses per cd with an ambient backtract. As always, the I-Doser Application and .drg files are for the more advanced users, and the MP3s and CDs are great for people who prefer a backtrack and a shorter dose, and a decrease in effect of about 10-20%.

the Peyote they have as a sample in the site, its from the CD and its 36 seconds long (meaning it isn't the full thing), was the first dose i ever felt effects with (but keep in mind that i had never taken a dose, nor did i know what peyote was)
While the peyote application took me a few doses to work...
but i'm yet to buy a mp3 version, tho
