Proper way to do this?

What is the proper way to listen to these doses, I don't get very good experiences when doing them. Here's what I do:

1. Put my head phones on.
2. Load the dose, click play dose.
3. Turn off my monitor, lay back (in my chair)
4. Close my eyes and listen.

There is no other noises, and lights are all off.

Am I doing something wrong, or do I need something stronger?
